The use of oral agents to treat cancer and autoimmune disease has dramatically increased in the last 10 years. Chemotherapy certified nurses can no longer support the volume of medications that need to be administered in a safe manner. Based on the ONS guidelines this course has been created to train non-oncology nurses to a safe practice in administering oral anti-cancer agents.
Target Audience
- Nurses working on non-oncology settings where patients require their oral anti-cancer agents from home.
- Nurses working with patients that require oral antineoplastic agents for the treatment of several chronic diseases.
Objectives
At the end of the course the learner will:
- Describe the uses of oral agents in both cancer and auto immune disorders.
- Explain the safe practice of independent verification and dual verification.
- List the environmental safety precautions and the use of PPE.

From the 405 Freeway (San Diego Freeway)
Connect with the 10 Freeway West and follow the directions above or exit Wilshire Boulevard West (from the San Fernando Valley), merge onto Wilshire Boulevard. Turn left (south) on 16th Street to 1250 16th Street. Valet parking is available at our main entrance, and parking garages are located on 15th and 16th Streets.
